We are Second Grade students from Room 31. We will journal about each month in our Second Grade classroom on this log.
Through this log, we will be working on our writing skills and learning about how to communicate for an audience on the World Wide Web.

In are class we had Leisure day. We ate chips and we drank juice. We played outside with are pinkieballs but Simon’s kite broke. In P.E. we played teeball and kickball. In music class we went to where Mr. Wendt works on the weekend. It is a church because Mr.Wendt was playing the music for us on the organ. He also taught us about the organ. There was another musician there, too. In the computer lab we learned Type to Learn 3. We had fun in May!

We went to The Grove and we saw a longhouse, teepee, and the Kenicot House. We did murals about Glenview: Change Over Time. We worked in partners to make goods and services boxes. We made cinquan and acrostic poems. We started leisiure reading. April was a GREAT month!
This month, we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day and we started studying fairy tales. Mrs. Morell brought in different colored fruits and vegetables every week. She taught us that different colorful fruits and vegetables can do different things for your body. Mrs. Lattanzio showed us some websites about the food pyramid. We are juggling in the lunchroom and playing volleyball in the gym for PE class. We learned fractions and other measurements from generation to generation. Now we are learning more measurements.
In our classroom we started studying fairy tales. An Art Mom came in for Art Masterpiece. We painted a winter scene on wood. We played in the snow. In the computer lab we finished studying countries and created powerpoints. On the last day of studying our countries we shared bread with Miss Rappoport’s class from our countries. In Math we are learning fractions. Balto and the Great Race is a book we finished and now we are watching the movie. Our class did Junior Great Books and we finished! For Valentine’s Day we had a party with fruit and vegetables and watched a movie.
We started our country study. We use books, the computer and we brought items like clothes from our country. In PE we used equipment and did stunts and tumbling. We started singing swing songs in Music and used our passports in Art, Drama and PE. We just finished our book 1 Math book and now we are on our 2 Math book. On Fridays we have Math Game Day. Our reports that were filmed were put on our webpage in January and we watched them!
In December we did the holiday program. We learned about line segments and shapes. We did crazy scarves and hat day. We read about the quilt maker. We made a class quilt. We watched the Kindergarteners and First graders perform. We also practiced for the holiday program.
We researched animals. We made dioramas. We started cup stacking in PE. We moved teams in the classroom. In Art, we made pieces for dragons. In Music, we are learning songs. We learned to use NetTrekker, Amazing Animals, and Comic Life in Computers. For Math, we had Math game day when we played board games and chess.
We celebrated Halloween. We did our first Learning Adventure project. We studied Cynthia Rylant. We studied plants. We went to the Library in Glenview. We went to the Computer lab. We played with the Classroom Performace System. We shared about kids in our class who were in the newspaper.
We played wallball at recess.
We started writers workshop.
We did math.
We began this journal.
We went to the grove.
A mom came in to talk about diabetes.
Mr. Dorken read a book to us.
We started soccer in P.E.
We played capture the pin in P.E.
We started computer lab.
We started to know every one in the class.
By the end of the month we got to know everyone’s name.
